    Justis, if you think wind and solar can compete with coal without subsidies you are kidding yourself.

    Look at what happened to RCR Tomlinson after getting into solar farm construction:

    The simple fact is:- the return on the investment is not enough to make solar (and wind) viable - unless coal fired power stations are shut down - so that they can get more per kwh to make it worth while.

    Why do to think AGL wants to shut down all its coal fired power stations in NSW. It is not because their coal fired power station are not making a profit, it is because they cannot get anyone to invest in renewables unless coal is gone.

    Australia used to have the cheapest electricity in the world. Not anymore. Now it is the most expensive and it is about to get a whole lot worse if Labor gets in and shuts down the coal fired power stations like they say they will.
