    Should Australia even be growing cotton still? With the expanding population and the resulting water needs what made sense in the early 80s may not now.

    The global climate is always going to change, we can't control that and it has been warming since the Little Ice Age, but we can control Aussie water use and cotton and rice may not be suitable crops going forward.
