Hi Dear Pluto, agreed very exciting announcement today, however I don't think Razer will buy us out as it would put in jeopardy their goals to get Esports into the Olympics - They're building a community where everyone gets a seat at the table - refer David Tse comments on December 21 podcast:
Shortly after the release of the podcast,
the International Olympic Committee (IOC) declared that discussions of esports appearing in the Olympic games were “premature.” The reasons cited included fragmentation and fierce competition between game publishers and league organizers, the for-profit focus of the games, and the fact that many esports today simply won’t sustain the same interest as a number of Olympic disciplines.
“For us, we come in as a very neutral party,” said Tse. “I think some of the learnings to consider is, if you’re working with game publishers, the publishers want their games to be in. For Razer to come in and discuss with the organizing committee, or different federations, is really to bring the sports together.”
“We are neutral. We want everyone to have a fair share of participation,” said Tse. “We’re not coming in with any commercial agenda, as our highest priority. We want esports to be in, and we want to be here to help. This is the most important role for us to play.”
