BHP Nickel West are not expanding operations, new pits are coming on line to replace depleting underground and open pit operations. No new plants no new smelter upgrades, matter of fact they have delayed furnace replacement by 3 yrs meaning they hope and pray it will last til 2023 and the sulphate production is redirection of their own product (briquettes) that others in the world use for guess what among other things sulphate production, they are cutting out the middle man.
Vale contemplating a Goro upgrade, this is in a plant that exports its current production at a loss to China for once again amongst other things batt materials production.
The report vintage posted yesterday regarding Vale and Sumitomo this is in a current ferro nickel plant and is a 2yr study that has begun, nothing definitive and as I said yesterday and posted reports on ferro nickel is not presently economical for Class 1 nickel production that is required for batt grades.
The other Indon plants being mooted are also ferro and NPI nickel grade plants.
Who's being sold a pup on those plants?
There is more of a cutting out of the middle man than new production of Class 1 coming online.

You forget BHP, Vale and the Chinese have bucket loads of money where as AUZ has Bergen. Even if the big 3 struggle along they will still increase nickel production. $1.3b price tag, IRR of 15% and a so so ore body, pfft pup in my books don't believe me take a look at the SP and lack of any substantial buying. I'm off to enjoy my Sunday afternoon I hope you take some time off away from the screen as well!
