No guilt here, I enjoy reading up on history and enjoy reading Henry Lawson. It is easy to see why he is on the $10 note as he captures the true spirit of the Aussie battler and the downtrodden—both black and white.
But Lawson was discouraged from writing on the Aboriginals as the people in charge of the newspapers didn’t want people to know about our murderous history and genocide of the natives during the first 50 years of white rule.
There aren’t too many aboriginals left in Tasmania, but the current generation is gathering a lot of old stories and photos to remember their bloody past at the hands of the British.
