It has been estimated there were between 300,000 and 1,000,000 natives when the whites arrived.
Using the lowest level of 300,000 multiplied by a death rate of 50% over 100 years. Note it has been estimated 90% of the aboriginals died out over the first 100 years.
So we have 300,000 ×50/100= 150,000 deaths over 100 years
That comes to 1500 deaths per year for 100 years
Which is around 30 deaths per week over a span of 100 years.
The upper end estimate would be around 100 deaths per week.
That is genocide.
Add to that an epidemic of venereal diseases like syphilis that eat away the body and the shock of losing their land and the inability to hunt and forage and your argument looks callus and offensive to fair-minded people.
So changing the date of Australia Day is the least we can do
