bdell, that little cut/paste of yours says it all very clearly. Simply it says share price manipulation via shorting has been shown to be rampant across the whole trading sector and ASIC cannot stop it. Surely this is a very good reason to simply ban short selling. Any loss (eg, making a market) would be minimal compared with the damage to the industry happening at present.
