I detest Shorten and the last thing I wanted to see is him in the lodge.
I am bagging the libs not because they did the most stupid thing in dumping Turnbull, think/say what you like about Turnbull but under him LNP where on 49% according to newspoll, 49.5% according to Morgan and in a position to win the next election. But then for no good reason the Lib's dump Turnbull and now they have no hope of winning the next election and Shorten will be PM
I said time and time again it would be political suicide for the libs to dump Turnbull and I have been proven correct.
Had LNP polling improved after Turnbull was dumped as it did when Abbott was dumped, I would be the first concede and say the move was vindicated. But that is not the case
I believe it is political suicide to dump any leader when in power.
the best a party could do is a mandatory leadership vote three months before the earliest election date.
then it may be seen as a deliberate change and any resigning leader will have some time to hand over the ropes.
the only thing that allowed Gillards and Turnbull to scrape in was it was during their parties first term in office. The electorate has very rarely kicked out a party after one term.
