    For what it's worth I agree that NATO members needed to contribute more.  

    It is in this space that Putin's games have potential to backfire on perceived Russian "interests" severely.  There is no way that Russia could stand up to a re-armed right wing populist nexus of European states with Germany, France and Poland aligning themselves with similarly minded politicians in the Ukraine and other former Soviet republics.

    Russia's "interests" would be better served by  trade and technology development without the sabre rattling.
