There's no numbers when it comes to eccentricity that I know of, some people are eccentric all their lives, however it well known that as humans age they're more prone to mental illness and instability. 

I've seen a guy who was 45 years old with dementia, unusual, but many older people become more paranoid and hoard, or some more trusting and get ripped off.

Many websites and companies attempt to persuade older people that Armageddon is imminent and that they should buy gold to protect their property and wellbeing, but it's all a huge scam in the current era of globalisation which they don't understand. They come from an era when the motto was "as good as gold", which it's not anymore.
