Physical gold isn't considered an investment as such but a store of money that isn't impacted by inflation. If you had the choice of leaving $1850 of AUD in savings account or an ounce of gold in the cookie jar for 20 years, I know which one I would choose... And I'm pretty sure during a recession or bear market there will be a transfer of wealth to gold & silver. Sure if you're savvy enough there will be good investments to make during a bear market but the average person will look to the safe haven of precious metals. Only a small transfer of wealth will cause a serious rerate to gold/silver.

if you can look past the last 10 years of history you would be able to see this as blatantly obvious.

A major crisis/collapse in currency is another kettle of fish, but still there is modern and ancient history to draw some likely scenarios andyou won't be worse off holding gold or silver.

Some here will tell you to stay away from gold, while holding gold mining stocks and previously selling silver at its peak at $50usd. I can't help but wonder if there's a hidden agenda.

Gold is not money, it's an asset, and a very poor performing one over the last 8 years. Ben Bernanke agrees with me.
