Tangychips, you obviously have not been following the detailed discussions on hot copper.

There is a school of thought that its not the Malaysians trying to shut down LYC but the Chinese anxious to protect their downstream production of REE products where they see the Japanese as their major competitor. Closing down LYC and stopping sales of REE's to Japan by China would put Chinese industries well ahead in the world domination stakes. Of course the Japanese are wise to this scenario and have publicly announced they will support LYC in obtaining its legitimate goals in Malaysia and as Malaysia is trying to raise in excess of a $billion in Japan through a bonds issue the stakes in this poker game are quite high. Now obviously I do not know if this James Bond type stuff is real or not; but we do have a Minister of Energy, of Chinese descent, who seems to ignore the fact that LYC has complied with all regulations and its waste products are, not just benign but are actually useful, but seems intent on imposing financial and other obstacles in the path of LYC. Unfortumately the losers in this charade are the Malaysian people and the shareholder of LYC. Hopefully common sense wil prevail and International businesses will be allowed to develop in Malaysia in accordance with the law and not the whim of some egostistical politician.
