I’ve had a good hard look at what’s needed and in my view, the new chairman with executive discretion would ideally have this kind of CV: extensive minerals industry related experience, specifically in mining engineering and mine design, mine planning and operational experience.

 

Thorough understanding of minerals industry technologies, global experience in a range of commodities, mine categories, and mine designs.

 

Project management experience includes good working knowledge of commercial contracts both as client and contractor with major international mining companies and suppliers.

 

Expertise in mine value optimization, as well as a working knowledge of financial modeling and evaluation.

 

Extensive experience in technical evaluations and due diligence of projects, Investment Proposals and Mergers/Acquisitions,

 

Operational experience in both underground and surface mining allowing them to develop effective interpersonal, communication and presentation skills, and fostering efforts to build constructive relationships with a variety of stakeholders.

 

And, has worked in remote locations on greenfield projects and has developed a sensitivity to different cultures and environmental issues.
