Unfortunately the food inflation is not finding its way into farmers pockets. Grain farmers are seeing good value for their product. Our grain is being fed to livestock and unfortunately the end product that we produce is not reflecting the high grain prices of the past two seasons. Of course anyone reading the newspaper would see that the prices for meat, milk and eggs in the supermarket is up x% in the past 2 years as a result of the drought. The increase the farmer gets is not enough to cover the extra production cost. Effectively we are worse off than we were 2 years ago.
