Kreno. I get good positions in some start-ups becuase I've been in the game for a long time, and people know I'm not a scumbag, I know and accept the many risks , I don't ever cheat people, I don't knowingly talk crap, I'm not a cry baby when things go wrong, I don't turn round and flip the stock 2cents higher like most start up investors, and more importantly they also know I usually try to help promote the stock plus I help to try to develop those businesses I put my money into where I can.
I don't get paid on the side, and I don't take every share I'm offered cheap as most are crap and don't work out.
I try to choose good prospects with management who are not lazy or greedy or bullshitters or lifestyle director scumbags - which frankly is hard in the junior end in Oz.
the good part of this "business" is that when I do get it right I make 5-20 times my money. And on a fea lotot more. Which means if you can get 1 right for even every 5 wrong, wrong you still make decent money without working hard. And for the many that do go wrong you can always re-constitute the shell companies and have another go. That's partly why I was in CLA this time I got stuffed in it before.
The real secret however is to try to get 2-3 right without getting any wrong. Then your done for several years or a life off.
so it's not just luck Kreno its one of the things I do. And so far so good. It's allowed me not to work for anyone else since I was 27. MNB for example went tits up - the mada project was a dog but comanies got cash still and it can be rejigged and given another opportunity. I'm just waiting on TMR now. and just had a good run with ERX etc etc.. I've A few irons in the fire. spread the risk etc etc etc...
