I am not sure, I have not done any research on this issue, but I think current ADY shareholders will have to apportion their current cost of acquiring their shareholding in ADY over both the demerged ADY and RLL with the valued apportioned to RLL been based on the independent RLL valuation.

Possible problem: If the value apportioned to RLL was actually greater than your current total purchase cost of ADY you may be left with a negative value for ADY. Since you cannot apportion more than you paid for ADY to RLL you may have to declare this excess as a taxable income for tax purposes. Could be a problem for those who purchased at a low price i.e. less than 10 cents.
