Nothing like this has existed before so very hard to compare it to anything. It works...both for initial measurement of pain levels and then as a follow up to measure efficacy of treatment. Valuable data for drug companies (another revenue stream in the age of big data)...Aged care centres are hard wiring into their IT systems. That would be a considerable cost no doubt. What a great endorsement. I can see the childcare centres going down a similar path. little Johnny is losing it - take a quick painchek - data goes into database and sends an sms notification to parents. Appropriate pain medication dosage is recommended and parent may even ok at this point. Little Johnny gets his dose and follow up reading is taken...all recorded for prosperity. Our day-care has just implemented iPad check in...so they're embracing tech! The parent could get a digital report on the whole Painchek episode and sign it off. everyone's happy. I can see this becoming mandatory in daycare centres...if the technology exists to accurately measure pain levels and it's not being used then that seems to me to be a breach of a duty of care. Same in aged care. I wonder if PD has considered this...sure he has. One or 2 lawsuits (especially in the US market) and you would see off the scale growth very quickly.

Daffas is calling this his mini-cochlear. I'm not sure how mini it will be...the market is enormous and usage is recurring. As he states in the interview he sees this as an integral part of triage. Pulse, blood pressure and painchek. Then administer appropriate medication dosage as directed by painchek test. There's yet another revenue stream. IMO.
