A lot of relevant points being made I think. For me if your going to reward directors then it shouldn't be exorbitant and it should be as shares held in escrow for 3yrs contingent on the company doing well. that way one yrs results don't get inflated for the sake of bonuses and directors will be more inclined to do more out of self interest.
Buying shares back is a good thing over the longer term. Although can make the results look better than they are. Dividends are needed and hopefully they will be forth coming next financial year although the general economic out look is getting more gloomy.
Myself if my winners come in big I will be selling for the the tax off sets and Mah is a under performer.

The argument of high pay to retain talented staff doesn't wash. Plenty of high paid executives and directors residing over the demise of once strong companies. I would say almost everyone here who has been at this for 5yrs or more would have bought into companies and had this experience first hand.
