You seem to be ignoring the fact that Snowy 2.0 will contribute to Australia becoming a very low emission economy. I imagine there would be big commercial, international advantages in that.
Australia is known globally for our clean, green agricultural output. It's worth a lot of money to the country.
And then of course there is the power from renewables that will be much cheaper than fossil going forward. Cheaper, cleaner, more flexible power for industry. Powering things like hydrogen for export.
I reckon that could be a major contributor to the economy.
