Snowy 2.0 contributes nothing!
In fact it takes 125% of previously generated energy for Snowy 2.0 to contribute 100%.
Doh !!!
Here we go again.

The non expert explaining to the engineer how things actually work.
1. Snowy 2.0 will supply the firming for renewables, thus making them baseload. I'd call that a fair old contribution.
2. Not only that, it will store energy which would otherwise be wasted, making the renewables even more efficient.
3. Seeing as the sun and wind won't go up in price,
ever , it will underpin an electricity system that will just get cheaper and cheaper in relation to fossil going forward. The lack of pollution is just cream on top.
4. Efficiency ? Once again you're missing the point. Big gobs of very cheap renewable energy can be less efficient. It simply doesn't matter. And , compared to an internal combustion engine , it's pretty efficient. I don't hear anyone complaining about the efficiency of their car.
