Not sure what the link is, but I doubt it's scientific.
The indigenous lifestyle was not superior. Or they would have built a very large population over 40,000 years.
The myriad small tribes suggests a very harsh subsistence lifestyle and the incredibly small overall population may indicate infant and adolescent mortality was high.
