as unfair as these changes are such as ending franking credit rebates, negative gearing and capital gains tax relief as well as $200 billion AUD in more taxes, the next Federal election as well as the NSW state election before it on March 23 may come down to social issues and the Roman Catholic Church or whom will be better to deal with sex scandals, religious scandals and the like rather than the capitalism versus socialism economic debate IMHO.
in the election you have the Roman Catholic Xavier College educated Bill Shorten versus the Sydney Boys High School Pentecostal Protestant Prime Minister Scott Morrison. The NSW election on March 23 sees an Armenian Australian Christian orthodox Premier Berejiklian against a Roman Catholic Michael Daley from the abuse prone Marcellin Roman Catholic College Randwick.
Sadly as the election nears with the Pell sentencing, appeal and fall out, the rugby football sex abuse and tapes scandal, the unfairness of the ALP proposed economic changes may take a back seat to other issues.
always has been the case with Aussie elections over birthday cakes, rainforests, refugee shipping vessels.
In New Zealand, a great economy and economic policies saw National ousted for Labor due in part to Bill English being a Roman Catholic and a very religious father of multiple children. That might do well to boost the spirits of the LNP however Australia is NOT New Zealand. kiwis prefer a woman who was childless at the time versus a religious father, for whatever reason escapes me.
the economic arguments may get crucified for some other side issues and social issues in the actual election.
i would hold little hope for the LNP and believe Australia will have another ALP Roman Catholic Prime Minister and Premier in its populous state when the votes are counted.
