They dont understand because they have never been in the situation where shareholder sentiment cancelled out results.
They do not realize that even if they started printing money tomorrow, old holders who arent happy with their IR policy might chose to dump into every rally and recycle for a couple of pipes, causing the shareprice to flatline endlessly and value to never be realized.
I've seen plenty of cashed up companies tank because they disrespected investors and thought that results would speak for themselves.
It is a symbiotic relationship that demands equal energy.
I've had this conversation many times with many directors from companies that have all disappeared. They all make the same mistake. It is really frustrating.
