A well made soap shouldn't be too alkaline. I used to make my own soap. It's great fun and if you do it properly by using the correct saponification numbers of the oils you use to calculate the amount of sodium hydroxide you need, you can get damn near neutral pH... Good smells too with the best essential oil odorants.
