Tau, my degrees are in physiology and pharmacology. I regard Physiology as the master medical science as it attempts to describe in both macro and micro terms how the various bodily systems work. It's said that a Pharmacologist is a Physiologist who knows the dose...!!
Physiology is something of a hybrid science drawing from all of the basic sciences, chemistry, physics and biology so as such, it requires knowledge of all of these. Fun if you like that sort thing which I happen to do.
In my previous career I ran a research lab and taught at a uni. I miss all of that but have had fun in a subsequent career. I consider myself to have been incredibly blessed in loving all the things I've done to earn a crust.
