I’ve only read page two of this thread so apologies if it has been asked/answered.
Is there any protocalls in place where CentreLink would challenge anyone’s claim to aboriginal heritage?
It is my understanding that the person only has to consider themselves aboriginal, to question if they are or if they are full of it, is in fact the definition of being a racist.
It goes along with the unwritten policy in the northern states/territory, no glass beers, flagons or spirits if you’re dealing with people outside of the capital or big towns.
Totally illegal, discrimination based on ethnicity but effective in reducing the trauma to the groups it targets, is it wrong ( yes) is it morally right to try any means to safeguard those unfortunate enough to be in these places ( yes) and the bit I can never answer!
How do we decide what is worth more?
Civil liberty or Safe Guarding the innocents as best we can?
To me, it seems impossible to have both.
