Turnbull lieutenant Craig Laundy quits, months after moving to the backbench
Craig Laundy has cut a lonely figure on the backbench since September, and after months of silence he has finally announced he is quitting federal politics at the next election.
Key points:
- Mr Laundy holds the Sydney electorate of Reid on a margin of 4.7 per cent
- He entered Parliament in 2013 when Tony Abbott came to power
- He remained an ardent supporter of Malcolm Turnbull until the very end
Mr Laundy holds the Sydney electorate of Reid, a vulnerable seat for the Coalition, sitting on a margin of 4.7 per cent.
He said he was no longer willing to put politics ahead of his family.
"The reality of modern politics is that, more often than not, a Member of Parliament has to put their constituents ahead of their family, something I've done over the past six years," Mr Laundy said.
