The way I see it. Gold does well in uncertain times and is certainly not going anywhere. Look at all the countries and reserve banks that are currently buying gold. If it was a relic of the past that wouldn't be the case. If you have the capital it's wise to invest some of it into gold for diversification. Considering you can swap it for basically any currency in world it is money just not the kind we are used to.
