I am beginning to think that reading the politics forum is a waste of time -

what good are we all doing here?

The NZ police and PM have it correct ----------- extremism from anywhere is bad and should be resisted.


It matters not a zot if a perpetrator or organisation is Islamic extremist, Right Wing extremist, any form of political extremist, any form of religious or fauz religious extremist --

they are all bad - and, when they shoot bullets - the bullets all hurt and they kill and maim mainly peaceful people going about their daily lives - often quietly just minding their own business.


This is a political thread on an Aussie forum - to me - what we have is now the 2 biggest gun crimes in this part of the entire globe having been committed by what looks to be deranged Aussies -

now - if there's something politically bloody obvious there - it's mental health --

instead of running around trying to prove that our political flavour of left or right wing nut jobs is better or worse than the other - lets look at some things that we should be doing and can be doing.

It is pretty bloody obvious that there will always be political contest - the contest of ideas -

but, it's pretty obvious that not all of us pick up a weapon and commit mass murder - thankfully

Look at the two biggest cases we now have with our outstanding Aussies ----------- Martian Bryant and the alleged Tarrant

results ----------- same - LOTS of dead people and what will turn out to be thousands of victims - including the entire nation of Australia who shall wear this taint for the foreseeable future.

the common thread ------------- mental health


whilst we are all here arguing about what the next massacre will be attributed to - which group and what it will be called --- be very aware - that the perpetrators walk with us right now -

they are in our churches, our mosques, our gyms, our workplaces, our schools, they are on our streets and in our families ---

maybe we should be looking at how to deal with that - because it just doesn't matter what the cause will be in the future - it is actual people - people with mental problems who will fall into some cause - any cause and pick up the weapons


of all the things we should be thinking about and discussing - is how to make the system better so they don't look for a cause and they have help when needed --------------- Martin Bryant even asked for help only days prior to his event - what does that say for us?

Lets make Oz a better place so we have less chance of those who walk among us making us even more infamous in future - no matter what their warped cause
