I wouldn't say "collectivism as a doctrine is pure evil" since humans evolved as part of complex social groups wherein people needed to cooperate to survive, so collectivism of one form or another is at the very core of our evolution, cognition and society.
Human societies are constantly balancing individualism against collectivism in various contexts. We need to keep the interests of both in mind to keep ourselves and our society functional.
