Exactly. The days of 8% interest on a bank Term Deposit are well gone. One is lucky to get even 3.5% for a Term Deposit. It is considered very unwise to wear the risk of any investment which returns anything like 5 or 6%, very risky.
Blue chip dividend earning shares with imputation credits were the preferred options for the elderly, but it will force people onto higher Aged Pensions or even for them to become pensioners whereas prior to BS they were self-funded retirees.
