1400 years young with progressive ideas like death to apostates and homosexuals, stoning for adultery. And let's not forget the many progressive cultural aspects common in muslim majority countries like underage marriage, honour killings, genital mutilation, suppression of women to name a few. The Saudis are so progressive they have just allowed women to drive. I expect you think that none of your kiwi muslims share any of these views even though it is statistically very unlikely based on surveys of muslim populations in other western countries. The catholics have been plagued by governance that has allowed creepy old men to abuse young children (hopefully they will stop now that their 3 or 4 ic is going to jail). They also have some repugnant views on family planning but overall they would appear to be light years ahead of islam. Note I am neither catholic or muslim.
