I tend to just look at lots of scenarios & try to keep an open mind while watching for events that filter the scenarios.
I do know that the rumour about BHP wanting to take over RIO was circulating a long time before it was made official and that the rumour about the Chinese wanting a stake in RIO was also around way before it became a reality. So I think it would be prudent to at least consider the rumour about Chinese taking a stake in BHP as at least a 'live' scenario.
