If you didn't have history of trying to discredit AGY on the LPI forums I'd take your claims of objectivity more seriously.
The projects are different. One is going the traditional route which I don't believe will get rubber on the road for at least 3-4 years and the other is trying a different approach. One, the other or both may fail however I don't see why you think it's some type of competition where one needs to discredit the other. I could be over there pointing out all the short comings of that project but I don't because I hope they succeed.
The AGY project is differentiating itself in the following way:
- It aims to produce 99.5% or greater LCE direct to the customer as a staple not a % of output.
- This removes the need for customers to carry out any further processing at their end and save them money.
- If this contributes to a higher cost of production that is ok because they should be able to command a higher price.
- This approach needed to be proven which it has with a pilot plant and 12 months testing with a customer.
- The initial 100T is irrelevant its about testing/verifying the differentiating project idea and engaging a customer in that idea.
- They have spare capacity to do the same with several other customers.
- The resource is not the hurdle, that's simply buying more tenements.
- The concentration is not the hurdle that has been proven.
- The inclusions are not the hurdle that been proven.
- Underlying the project is the idea of building an intimate relationship with one or a few (at most) customers to be a quality flexible supplier.
- If you do that they come along for the ride with you.
I have worked in industry that has on many occasions introduced new suppliers with new ideas by giving them a small part of our business to trial them an see how it works for both. I see nothing new here.
I hope both AGY and LPI succeed for the good of everyone. Even the other plays for that matter.
