With the Ni price now finished under the $10/lb we have at least one positive aspect worth to mention.
And that is the Pig iron production, pig iron will be out of the window with these prices as no profit can be made out of this any longer.
It could be a good thing to have lower Ni prices for a while to flush out this part of the Ni supply and could do the world of good for our Ni sulphide producers.
I still believe that an average price around the $12 mark will be the norm for 2008 with some fluctuations on the up as well as the down side.
But once the lower Ni prices have killed off the Pig iron producers, and they must be hurting right now, prices will have to go up.
Time will tell
