As Australia has no car industry, Australians have to buy fully imported cars. Over the next ten years practically all internatinal car manufacturers are phasing out petrol and diesel powered vehicles in favour of hybrids and evs. Consequently that is all Australians will be able to buy wether they like it or not. If the government doesnt realise this the necessary infrastructure such as charging stations, etc wont be available accross the country to enable the transition to take place. What is happening overseas will dictate what happens here, not the labour party or any other political group.
