For your info, there is an Li stock that isn't far off building a pilot Li battery recycling plant. Government regulations abroad are already placing a responsibility for the battery after it dies, so this (Australian-owned) technology could well be an emerging spinoff market.....if it works
@pintohoo, if you have a read of the link I posted, part of the initiative is to make battery minerals a funding priority for the Australian Research Council (ARC). Something!
Below is a story with input from the government's Chief Resource economist Mark Cully on the future of this industry in Australia. He doesn't go as far as suggesting we could manufacture the batteries in Australia, but he is certainly pushing for government focus in this area so that we can be at the forefront of the industry, and not just feeding the beast with shiploads of unprocessed rock.
