Thanks for sharing the story. I am reminded of your starting out the popular “alternative metrics “tread. Your story demonstrates share investing is half science and half art.

The chartists are the scientists, while traders are the artists who will “buy the news and sell the facts”. Both have one thing in common – they don’t have a conviction. They believe they can beat the market by buying the dip and selling high.

I heard Warren Buffet and Jack Bogle have made outsized returns for having a conviction. The traders and the chartists? They make an average return at the best.

As far as APT is concern, “profit taking” is a pre-matured thread. Period.
