“That leaves several hundred million dollars of investment inthe LAMP redundant after its operation was agreed and licensed prior to itsconstruction and ramp up.”
Talk about absolutely crazy claims withno back up. First why do you think several hundred Million. The C&L is probably one of the cheapest and least precision parts of the plant. They are big and use lots of solvents and energy but not expensive. They were built in another country shipped in and assembled at Lamp so they can be disassembled and shipped to new location.
Next if you were around when the Lampwas built it did not have any license or operating permits before it was built. Just construction permits. In fact it had to be tested with sand and inert liquids before any operations could begin. This took a long time because it had a large number of leaks and plumbing problems. Then a TOL Temporary Operating License was granted That let them start up slowly with real product. Malaysia was very careful to explain when TOL was given there was no promise a OL would be granted. After months of operation under the TOL and much testing the first OL was granted. Now per the agreement the first OL will expired in Sept. And Like anything that expires it is up to the original parties to come to an agreement that is good for both parties to renew it. Maybe NC goofed by not putting together a better agreement when he was CEO and board chairman of Lynas. The deal Lynas has now is the deal they have to work under. I do not like how the government is handling this. I know for sure many false claims and exaggerations on this board are not helping anything. I follow Lynas for investment purposes only. I have made money in the REO field. I want the WES deal to fail. WES is just too big to be a good REO investment with Lynas. To make money it is important to unemotionally asses what is happening.
Mt weld went through the same licensingsequence at MT Weld. You can follow it in the announcement section of Lynas.com 2010 and 2011. You can follow Lamp in 2011 – 2013. NC use to give Quarterly Operations updates reading a few of these might give you a better understanding of history. Also skim other topics.
