It seems that it would be better to focus on a way to standardize batteries and make them hot-swap-able like disc drives in computers. instead of driving into a charging station you could drive into a swap station and be done faster than if you were to wait for a charge. Dead batteries could then be moved to fast charge area where they could be charged and reused . I would imagine this would be a fairly automated process using human assist robotics, if the batteries were standardized.
