1gig RAM is plenty (most of my IT friends don't like Nortons to be honest)

I can't remember the name of the file that causes the trouble. When your laptop runs slowly, check task manager & see the file name that is causing the problem (using heaps of CPU). Do a google search on that file name. If it relates to NERO, search for that file in windows explorer & delete it.
Nero & your pc will work fine. The file goes off and index's loads of dvd & cd information, and is really not required.
