Rebel is telling us about a british show he saw where the POLICE confiscate and destroy the car if it's unregistered or if the driver is drunk.
I said that this can't be true because such austere laws have not be written to my knowledge, anywhere in the known universe. No parliament, in other words, has given the POLICE that much power, ie, the power to bypass legal reply and, if necessary, legal representation, yes, lawyers even! Once the court has heard the case then it may well judge that the car might be confiscated and even trashed. Though, I suggest, it would be a more profitable move to have it auctioned somewhere outside the state.
POLICE might give fines on the spot but you always have the right of defending yourself against that fine. THAT'S the legal process.
