If Jesus had meant to talk about those spiritual matters you proposed, he would just have said so. He did that on numerous other occasions and knew that time was short.
Besides, the area around Judea was prone to earthquakes and famines and pestilences and the audience was well aware of them or the threat would not have been so effective.

Why do you want to spoil all the drama and fear and gnashing of teeth that a jolly good literal telling brings.
