"What are they for" is is pretty much the existential question that was asked for years about CNNs prior to the breakthrough visual recognition demo back in circa 2010, and is basically a question still asked about SNNs generally. SNNs are improving but it is not clear if BRN's new approach is a breakthrough or just a significant increment, which also adresses practical useability problems, but which may fall short of generating significant sales.

The attempt to update Spikenet's old SNN s/w "to modern standards", and use it as a basis for several applications appears to have been an expensive, misjudged and largely pointless diversion to date, but can also be viewed as a general SNN issue. Candidily i am not optimistic even about GPI given the lengthy silence, plus the general failure has served to undermine the credibility of Akida, whether that is reasonable or not (eg it is not clear if JAST was ever incorparted into any of the apps). Now we are in a classic overhang/CR situation while people have largely lost faith in BRN's ability to ever deliver significant good news.
