It will be interesting to see the Shortman report later. At vol of 15m so far (with only about 250k shares on offer for most of the fall), I'd say there has been a good deal of covering already today. Target of 150 (ish) met, and all dirty laundry cleared, no pending unknown promises left, new CEO, shipments restarting this quarter, costs declining and currently acceptably low, Li prices starting to trend higher, bigger shipments up coming..just isn't much in the bad news way (if anything) left. If anything is announced on the SDV front (which seems likely later this qrtr or next) that will be seen as a "surprise upside" event - even though it is screaming from their commentary that that is exact;y what is likely to happen - if not, then after today, the market isn't expecting anything anyway. Plus we have hit the point at which SP recoveries have been quite fast in the past, and currently have the highest volume buy side in months - and it has not dropped much all day.
The current (outgoing) CEO is still avoiding clear answers on some issues (like spod price, who the customers are, etc) (and based on his non-answer of "his future" question in the conference, I expect him to be gone entirely soon, including from the purported marketing role) - but given the continued game of playing everything close to his chest, and their failure to take any questions from non-banks in the conference call - probably because they didn't want to risk the questions they knew would be coming, they have done nothing to quench the retail holder resentment, so I'd say that even that would be seen as a price uplift when it is announced. A shame, because I kind of liked him, but he is cutting his own throat by being too arrogant with respect to retail holders, and they have been careless with the retail holder's shorter term valuation, which while it might seem unimportant to them, with a five year horizon, is critically important to small investors, even those with horizons longer than 6 months. It is a lesson not soon forgotten and will follow him where ever he goes - greater openness would have modified expectations and allowed small investors - who are apparently irrelevant to him, to take their money off the table and place it elsewhere where a shorter term return could be made, and come back to GXY when the time frame was closer to his expected time frame.
Only thing I am still concerned about is the business cycle timing - May/June can be a tricky couple of months for share prices, and GXY has a 50/50 history of going in either direction, but an upcoming US/China trade deal might clinch it.
