I will be having a close look at the Sun Herald trading comp portfolios - I bet STX is there - I may be wrong

I have seen and heard many weird and wonderful things on the exchange over the years, but I have never heard this one before :o) Anything is possible, but I'd doubt if a newspaper tipster would throw in $350k just to prop up their stock pick!

Also remember that it isn't only local traders who can trade / manipulate this stock. Oversea investors such as UK resident can also buy this as part of their ISA holdings (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Individual_Savings_Account for more info on ISA).

In any case, I don't necessarily see this order as a fake since STX is trading at a discount to risked NAV and future DCF. Well, I do agree that bundling 1mn into one order is making some kind of statement, which is not what you'd want to do if you want to accumulate a holding of this size. This is so that you don't disturb the water, so to speak. Guess we'll know on Tuesday morning. Will be interesting to see how the energy index goes after the Dow tanking on the back of the surging oil/gas (and unemployment data of course).
