There is no way in hell the labour party would reverse this deal. This is on, whoever is in power, and they would have way more things to think about in terms of the countries budget than $5m for an app in healthcare, which should save money and lead to huge efficiencies. Labour are meant to be the "caring party" so they put a gun to their heads, and pull the trigger, if they reversed this. I cannot see any political party wanting to overturn this. The court of public opinion would hound them out the country.
I said yesterday, that it looked like the deal to encompass all RACS was coming. Picking them off one by one was too damn hard. A very very good play by management here, and he gets my vote for any incentive options !
1. Addresses a policy area getting hammered in the media - need a good news , Australian bred, good news story that goes in some small way to address the problem at hand. 2. From the Governments perspective, spend sweet FA introducing technology for a year to all RAC's who then will not give it away once the benefits are seen throughout the Country. 3. Exposure to every single family member of an aged relative with dementia and in care who will talk about the app to their friends and expand the pool of people with knowledge of the app. 4. Piggyback straight into the UK, and save the NHS hundreds of thousands of dollars, in a government run organization that is on its knees, desperate to save money. ( In reality, Aus needs to be bedded down now and UK probably some months off but who knows) 5. Lobby NZ and Singapore governments for same approach. 6. Announce Baby app on the back of the media attention on aged care. 7. Announce app for home use for home carers.
This will go down as the biggest turnaround point in Paincheks history, and start of the turnaround story
