    With respect I have to fundamentally disagree with this sorry @Embercide.
    I work for a manufacturer of Smart building systems and workplace technology (as in building automation, not construction automation). Our US mother-ship is often looking to Australia for advice as we're early adopters of pretty much everything. The whole 'it'll be right mate' mentality.
    I personally believe it's our governments who are holding us back from being early adopters, not the people.
