    Lebowski,

You have placed a lot of emphasis on the word "tools". Sure, name-calling is useless, it wasn't justified, I was a bit frustrated at the time, still it's a mild word methinks.

When I used the term "renters on this thread" I was being literal. The posters who are most vocal against property (and property investors) are renters. It is not a derogatory statement, these blokes have said they prefer to rent because they are adamant that property prices will drop 50% in the near future.

The problem is there is a great dishonesty in what they are doing. The fact is that these blokes have been fortelling a property crash not for a few months, not a for a year but for many, many years.

Do they admit that? Do they say, "hey everything I am saying, I have been saying for years and I have always been wrong". No ofcourse they don't.

They speak with false bravado and constantly copy/paste selectively which, to the uninitiated, could be quite frightening. However, if the uninitiated are made aware of the bitterness, the envy, the hatred for property investors, then those posts take on a different tone.

They no longer seem like detached academic discussions but rather vitriolic, rabid, hate-filled posts.

When you wrote about "how some people talk about their tenants" I assume you weren't referring to me because I have never been disparaging about my tentants, I don't even know them. I have rented in the past and I know that people rent for any number of reasons.

I only have an issue with the sour-grapes renters/posters on this thread because they want to tear everything down, they want others to lose so they will feel less like losers.

And lastly the "never do well" phrase is misrepresented by you. What I said is that if you a perma-renter things don't ever get better or cheaper, they just get worse. If you are an owner things are tough for the first few years but, given time, things get a lot easier and eventually things are great.

I thought about whether I should bother responding to you about this and in the end I decided you had read the post quickly and took things the wrong way.
