the point about Michael Malone is nonsense.
yes he's on numerous boards, but he was a non executive chair.
this is significantly different to being an executive director. He was always meant to be hands off.

the problem with meir and the founding directors is that they are in my opinion simply not suited to running a listed business. They don't acknowledge this and wont relinquish control to those that have the required skill sets and more importantly experience.

it's always a problem when the founding directors are closely linked and even friends. I'm only guessing but that may be also why Malone resigned, he had good ideas but the board were stubborn and didn't listen as they are all friends. So why bother being a director?
I think if SAS could, they would have 0 Australian directors and just run the ship themselves.
